Chinese Porcelain · Private Gallery
Chinese porcelain for the considered collector.
Grantwell Arts is a private gallery dealing in Chinese porcelain in the Ming and Qing traditions — blue and white, famille rose, doucai and openwork. Every object is photographed as it is, measured, and described without flattery. Viewings are by appointment.

Object in Focus · GA-1316
A monumental
landscape vase.
Nearly two feet in height, the body carries a continuous mountain procession — scholars, attendants and a caparisoned elephant beneath ancient pines whose needles are drawn in gilt over malachite green.
A vessel of this scale sits at the outer limit of what the Jingdezhen kilns could fire without warping. Very few were attempted; fewer still came out of the saggar true.
How We Work
“If a piece has been restored, is later than it looks, or has a flaw you would want to know about, you will read it here before you read it anywhere else.”
Grantwell Arts
We are a gallery, not an auction house. There is no buyer's premium, no reserve and no bidding. The price shown is the price; if you would like the piece, write to us and it is held for you.
Every object is photographed exactly as it sits in the gallery — no retouching, no borrowed images — then measured and described in plain language. Where we are certain of an attribution we say so. Where we are reading the style rather than proving a date, the entry says “after” or “in the taste of”, and means exactly that.
Buy anything from us and you have thirty days to change your mind, for any reason. Send it back and you are refunded in full.

Acquiring a Piece
Buying from Grantwell.
Ask anything first
More photographs, the base, the mark under raking light, a view under ultraviolet — ask, and they are sent the same day. We would far rather answer ten questions than receive one disappointed parcel.
Reserve by email
Write to reserve the piece and it is held for you while payment is arranged. We accept bank transfer, card and cheque. Nothing is sold until it is paid for, and we never take deposits to start a bidding war.
Packed by hand, shipped insured
Double-boxed and foam-packed ourselves, insured for the full purchase price. Delivery within the continental United States is included. International shipping is quoted individually.
Thirty days to decide
If the object is not what you expected once it is in your hands, return it within thirty days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price. No restocking fee, no argument.

Porcelain reads completely differently in the hand than it does on a screen. Write to arrange a private viewing, and we will have the pieces that interest you out and waiting.
