These terms govern every sale made by Grantwell Arts (“the Gallery”, “we”), whether concluded in person, by email or through this website. By reserving or paying for an object, the buyer (“you”) agrees to them. Where the law of your place of residence gives you rights that cannot be excluded, nothing here limits those rights.
01Descriptions and condition
Every object is described in good faith, from direct examination, and photographed as it is. Where the Gallery is confident of a period or origin the entry states it plainly. Where the entry says “after”, “in the taste of” or “in the manner of”, the attribution describes style and not date, and no representation as to period is made.
Condition notes record everything the Gallery has observed. Antique and vintage ceramics commonly show wear, firing imperfections and minor losses consistent with age; such features are not defects unless the entry says otherwise. Additional photographs, measurements and ultraviolet examination are provided on request before purchase, and we encourage you to ask for them.
02Prices and payment
Prices are shown in United States dollars and include insured delivery within the continental United States. There is no buyer's premium. Sales tax is charged where the Gallery is required to collect it. Prices may be changed or an object withdrawn at any time before a reservation is confirmed.
We accept bank transfer, major debit and credit cards, and personal cheque drawn on a US bank. Payment is due in full within seven days of the reservation being confirmed; cheques must clear before dispatch.
03Reservation and title
An object is reserved for you once the Gallery confirms your request in writing. A reservation is held for seven days pending payment, after which the object may be released for sale to others. Title passes to you when payment has been received in full; risk passes on delivery.
04Packing, shipping and insurance
Each object is packed by hand and double-boxed by the Gallery, and shipped with a tracked, signature-on-delivery carrier, insured for the full purchase price. Domestic dispatch is normally within five working days of cleared payment.
International shipping is available. Carriage, insurance and export documentation are quoted individually and agreed before payment. Import duties, taxes and brokerage charges in the destination country are the buyer's responsibility.
Please examine the parcel on arrival. Any damage in transit must be reported to the Gallery within three days of delivery, with photographs of the packaging and the object, so that an insurance claim can be made. Please keep all packing materials until the matter is settled.
05Returns
You may return any object within thirty days of delivery, for any reason, for a full refund of the purchase price. Write to us first so that we can arrange the return; the object must come back in the condition in which it was sent, packed with the same care, and insured for the purchase price. Return carriage is at your expense unless the object was materially misdescribed, in which case we bear it.
Refunds are made by the original payment method within seven days of the object's safe arrival at the Gallery.
06Export, import and protected materials
The Gallery deals in porcelain and does not knowingly offer objects incorporating ivory, tortoiseshell, rhinoceros horn or other materials regulated under CITES or the Endangered Species Act. Where a mount, stand or fitting contains such material it will be stated in the entry, and the buyer is responsible for any permits required to import it.
It is the buyer's responsibility to ensure that an object may lawfully be imported into the destination country. The Gallery will supply invoices and descriptions to assist, but cannot guarantee that any export or import licence will be granted.
07Privacy
The details you give us are used only to answer your enquiry, complete a sale and arrange delivery. They are not sold or shared with third parties other than carriers and payment processors as needed to fulfil an order, and you will not be added to a mailing list unless you ask to be. Write to us at any time to see or delete the information we hold.

08General
These terms are the whole agreement between you and the Gallery in respect of a purchase and supersede any earlier correspondence. Except as stated in sections 01 and 05, and to the extent permitted by law, objects are sold as described and no other warranty is given. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in effect.
Questions about these terms may be sent to info@grantwellart.com.
